Welcome Summer! {random thoughts and link up}

Summer is in full swing and these triple digit days are definite proof! On the bright side, we've passed the longest day of the year, which means fall is just 1months away!. This is our third week of vacation and so far it's been unlike any year.  First of all, nobody has killed each other. . . yet.   And, 2nd, we have been really busy. . . this summer is going to fly by!  I'm already struggling to believe that July is this week!  Craziness, I tell you!

Even though we have been unusually busy, we are really enjoying life and taking advantage of vegging.  In fact, we have spent a lot of time in front of the T.V.  and I'm okay with that.  We've installed "Quiet Time" into our daily routine and while it is flexible in when it happens, it WILL happen daily.  Ethan has a quiet time box filled with some legos, coloring books, word searches and other activities.  He camps out on our bed and chills while his brother hangs out in their shared bedroom and plays with legos, trains, imaginext, etc.  I get to do things like read and relax and enjoy some peace and quiet.  I think that this is one tradition we will keep into the school year.  I think it has really kept us from having major meltdowns in the afternoon when things normally get hard.

I have several projects going on right now.  I am determined to finish my kitchen cabinets before the end of summer and Ethan's 7th birthday needs to be planned.   I am also working on some house projects since we just got our flooring done. . . it's still a mess in some places.  I also need to start planning Weston's preschool program for next year.  I can't believe that one more year and he will be in kindergarten!

I am seriously considering doing this.  My boards are driving me crazy!

I have a lot of unfinished projects that really, REALLY need to be finished.  I should probably stop pinning things until I finish what I've started!  Anyone else have that problem.

She Reads Truth is having a wonderful study this summer!

What are you up to this summer?  Have you baked anything or created anything?
